Chevrolet Colorado Win Motor Trend 2016 Truck of the Year

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel

The all-new Chevrolet Colorado with its all-new 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel engine won the 2016 Motor Trend Truck the Year awards on Nov. 16, 2015. It is the second consecutive Truck of the Year award for Colorado, the mid-size pickup introduced as a 2015 model.

“With the Camaro and the Colorado turbo-diesel being named as the 2016 Motor Trend Car and Truck the Year, it proves that Chevrolet is building vehicles with great versatility that meet the wants and needs of a wide-spread customer base,” said Alan Gamblin

The Colorado diesel offers the best fuel economy for a pickup truck in the United States, with an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 31 mpg on the highway for two-wheel drive models, and the highest trailering capability in the midsize truck segment: up to 7,700 pounds (2WD) when equipped with the available trailering package.

Colorado is available this fall, in four-door extended or crew cab models with Work Truck, LT and Z71 trim levels. The diesel engine is offered in LT and Z71 Crew Cab models with 2WD or four-wheel drive. It features a variable-geometry turbocharger for optimal power and efficiency, and is SAE-certified at 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm.

Both the Camaro, which won Motor Trend Car of the year in 1982, and the Colorado are well-connected, offering Chevrolet MyLink with phone integration capability for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

2016 Chevy Colorado Special Models Dressed to Impress

On the street or on the trail, the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado’s Midnight Edition and Z71 Trail Boss bring bolder choices to customers, looking to make a visual statement with their truck.

The special editions will roll into our showroom this fall, with distinctly tailored appearances that blend custom design cues with Colorado’s popular options and accessories. The Midnight Edition evokes the aesthetic of an urban tuner vehicle, while the Z71 Trail Boss is designed for terrain where the pavement ends.

These editions will offer Northwest area customers more choices on top of the segment-leading capabilities and efficiency of the Colorado.

Colorado Midnight Edition

Echoing the blacked-out design theme introduced on the popular Silverado Midnight Edition, the 2016 Colorado Midnight Edition casts an imposing stance. Offered exclusively in black, additional exterior details such as the grille, the bowtie emblem and the 18-inch aluminum wheels are also finished in black. Additional content includes a spray-on bedliner and soft, folding tonneau cover – both in black – and Chevrolet-logo sill plates.

The Colorado Midnight Edition is available on LT models with the extended and crew cab bodies, in 2WD or 4WD, and with the 2.5L and 3.6L engines. It will also be available with the all-new 2.8L Duramax turbo-diesel engine. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

Colorado Z71 Trail Boss
The 2016 Colorado Z71 Trail Boss builds on the capability of Chevrolet’s Z71 off-road truck suspension package with more aggressive tires and off-road-inspired appearance enhancements.

An all-new sport bar with LED trail lighting makes the new edition of the Trail Boss instantly identifiable. It’s complemented by black-finished 17-inch aluminum wheels matched with aggressive Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec® 265/65R17 all-terrain tires, bold fender flares and tubular assist steps. It also features a black bowtie grille emblem and a spray-on bedliner, and a set of all-weather floor mats inside the truck.

The Colorado Z71 Trail Boss is available on Z71 models with the extended and crew cab bodies, and in 2WD or 4WD. Like the Midnight Edition, it will also be available with the 2.5L and 3.6L engines, as well as the 2.8L Duramax diesel. Pricing will be announced at a later date.

2012 Toyota Tacoma vs 2012 Chevrolet Colorado Washington Cars

2012 Chevrolet Colorado vs Toyota Tacoma

At Art Gamblin Motors we are confident that the The Chevy Colorado out performs the Toyota Tacoma. Below is just a short sampling of the reason why:

Safety: The front shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Colorado are height-adjustable. The Tacoma only has front height-adjustable seat belts and no whiplash protection. The Colorado also has standard OnStar, which uses a GPS receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you’re locked out, help find your vehicle if it’s stolen or even automatically send emergency personnel to your location if needed. The Toyota Tacoma fails to offer anything comparable to OnStar. Parking assistance sensors in the Cruze, excluding the LS model, warn the driver of obstructions, which greatly reduce the chance of accidents. The Tacoma offers nothing comparable to this. Full time four-wheel drive is also optional on the Chevy Colorado. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, while the Tacoma only offers 4-wheel drive that helps when off-roading.Engine:The Colorado has more powerful standard and optional engines than the Tacoma, which allows the Colorado a higher standard payload capacity than the Tacoma and greater overall performance. According to the EPA the Colorado also gets better fuel efficiency than the Tacoma. The EPA’s Green Vehicle Guide even rates the Chevrolet Colorado higher than the Toyota in environmental friendliness meaning that the Colorado produces much less smog than the Tacoma.  pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Tacoma every 15,000 miles.
2012 Chevrolet Colorado Warranty:Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Colorado 40,000 miles longer than Toyota covers the Tacoma. Colorado’s corrosion warranty is also 1 year longer than the Tacoma’s. There are also nearly 4 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Toyota dealers—making it a lot easier to get service under Chevrolet’s warranty than Toyota’s.   Interior: The Colorado Extended Cab Pickup offers optional seating for 5 passengers; the Tacoma Access Cab can only carry up to 4. The Colorado Crew Cab Pickup offers optional seating for 6 passengers; the Tacoma Double Cab can only carry up to 5. The Colorado Extended Cab Pickup has 2.3 inches more front legroom, 3 inches more rear headroom and 4.9 inches more rear hip room than the Tacoma Access Cab. The Colorado Crew Cab Pickup has 2.3 inches more front legroom and 2.1 inches more rear legroom than the Tacoma Double Cab. The Colorado’s cargo box is larger than the Tacoma’s in almost every dimension. To prevent tailgate loss and help secure heavier cargo from theft, the Colorado offers an optional tailgate lock cylinder. The Tacoma doesn’t offer a tailgate lock.
