2012 Chevrolet Volt Ride & Handling

2012 Chevrolet Volt suburbs  2012 Chevrolet Volt highwayAll of us at Art Gamblin Motors are energized about the Chevrolet Volt’s excellent electric efficiency and performance, but we are also very impressed with the Volt’s delightful to drive experience and secure handling. The Volt has been designed with a Body Frame Integral made of high grade steel that combines the body and frame of the Volt into one cohesive unit. This makes the Volt stiff, allowing engineers to more easily fine-tune the entire car. The result is the tight-handling Chevrolet Volt. The Volt has an independent front suspension made of many high quality parts like MacPherson brand struts and weight optimized forged aluminum. The rear suspension of the Volt is specifically designed to be light weight and high performing. In fact the rear suspension of the Sonic weighs 10% less than commonly used traditional torsion beam suspensions. The result is the Volts fast, responsive performance and drivability2012 Chevrolet Volt aerodynamic

The power steering on the Volt runs on the car’s 12V system, which maximizes horsepower, performance and efficiency. The Volt uses 4-wheel ABS disk breaks making for precise and responsive braking even in an emergency. The Volt also harnesses braking power with its electro-hydraulic regenerative brake system—transferring energy to the brakes into the Volt’s battery. The Volt comes standard with forged aluminum wheels made with a forged and flow-form process used in making racing wheels. The Volt is equipped standard with the StabiliTrack Stability Control System, which automatically engage the Volt’s traction and braking systems if the vehicle does not exactly follow the drivers intended path. The Volt also uses a traction control system that prevents wheel spin.

All of the above factors are just a sampling of the features that make the handling and drive experience of the Volt Exceptional. 2012 Chevrolet Volt Charging

2012 Chevrolet Volt
 2012 Chevrolet Volt

At Art Gamblin Motors in Enumclaw Washington, we are eager to offer the easily charged 2012 Chevrolet Volt. Charging a Chevrolet Volt is simple, efficient and inexpensive. You can charge your new Chevrolet Volt with a standard 120V dedicated household outlet. This is the common circuit found in most homes and will take about 10 hours to fully charge your Volt. A faster way to charge your Volt is with a 240V dedicated outlet. This is the same type of household outlet used for clothes dryers. This type of outlet will charge your Volt in just 4 hours. Chevrolet’s home charging partner, SPX, offers a 240V charging station that can be installed in your home as well. The Volt is also equipped with a standard charging system that allows it to use any public charging station.

Electricity is a very cost-effective way to power your vehicle. Factoring in the average price of electricity in America, it only costs around 1.50$ per day in electricity costs to travel up not 40 miles daily in a Chevy Volt. 1.50$ is already an extraordinarily low cost, but even this small expense can be reduced through the Volt’s delayed rate of departure charge setting. In this charging mode the Volt calculates charging time based on utility peak costs and your planned departure time as well. The delayed departure time charging mode charges your Volt based on your indicated schedule. Finally, the immediate charging mode begins charging as soon as the Volt is connected to an outlet. Although charging a Chevy Volt is most efficient when done regularly, your Chevy Volt will still function regularly on a charge even after months of not being plugged in.

Between the many charge options, charge modes and efficiency of charging used by the Volt; we are confident at Art Gamblin Motors that a new Chevrolet Volt can easily fit into anyone’s busy lifestyle. So come give the Volt a test drive with us today in our pressure-free environment and let our friendly expert sales associates answer all your questions. Most importantly we at Art Gamblin Motors have been family owned and operated for more than 40 years, so we treat all of our customers like family. That is the reason why we are the highest online rated Chevrolet dealer in the state! Come discover this difference for yourself at Art Gamblin Motors in Enumclaw Washington.

2012 Chevrolet Volt vs Toyota Prius

2012 Chevrolet Volt vs Toyota Prius  The Toyota Prius is a hybrid vehicle capable of running continuously solely on electric power for only one mile, which also requires that the Prius be moving at low speeds. The Prius has four equipment levels, although they all share an identical powertrain.

Power and Performance: The Prius is a hybrid vehicle, which uses a constantly shifting mix of electric and gasoline power. The Chevrolet Volt is a real electric vehicle that uses electricity to provide its power all the time. This allows the Chevy Volt to travel 35 miles in all-electric zero-emission mode before uses its gasoline powered generator. The Prius can only accomplish fully electric operations with zero-emissions for 1 mile and it must do so at low speeds. The horsepower rating of the Volt is 149. That is 15 more horsepower than the Prius’ 134 horsepower rating. This allows the Volt to do 0-60 mph in under nine seconds as opposed to the Prius, which takes almost 10 seconds to do the same thing. The battery used in the Prius is made of nickel-hydride. The Volt uses a lithium-ion battery, which stores more electricity, is safer and also better for the environment. The steering system in the Volt is also superior to the Prius due to the electric power steering motor being mounted directly to the steering racks. Volt’s also come standard with 17” wheels whereas only the most expensive Prius comes with 17” wheels.

Comfort and Convenience: The Volt offers the Chevrolet MyLink system with voice recognition and direct connectivity to online programs such as Pandora. The Prius offers nothing comparable to this. The Chevy Volt has more hip and shoulder room than the Prius, which makes for a more comfortable ride, a standard remote start and keyless access system. The Prius has these features in a limited form, available only on its more expensive models. 2012 Chevrolet Volt
Safety and Security: The Volt has 8 airbags standard while the Prius has only 7. In crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Volt has easily outperformed the Toyota Prius. Included among the universal safety superiority of the Volt over the Prius is the Volt’s 5-star roll-over rating as opposed to the Prius’ 4-star rating. One of the many factors contributing to its superior safety over the Prius is the Volt’s 500-740 pounds of extra weight over the Prius, which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says is a key factor is better safety over lighter counterparts.

Quality, Reliability and Durability: The engine of the Volt uses a cast iron block as opposed the Prius’ aluminum engine block. Aluminum is much more prone to warping and cracking than cast iron. Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Volt 40,000 miles longer than Toyota covers the Prius. The powertrain warranty on the Chevy Volt is 40,000 miles longer than the protection offered by the Prius; the Volt’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Prius’; and finally, there are roughly 4 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Toyota dealers. This makes getting your vehicle serviced by a Chevrolet warranty much easier than getting service for a Prius.

Awards: J.D. Power and Associates rated the Volt first among compact cars in owner reported satisfaction. The Prius has yet to make it into the top three. The Volt was picked as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” in 2011. Motor Trend chose the Volt as 2011 Car of the Year. The Volt earned 2011 Car of the Year by Automobile Magazine.

We all know at Art Gamblin Motors that the Chevrolet Volt totally outperforms the Toyota Prius in every way.  Style: The Chevrolet Sonic comes in either a sedan or hatchback and has a standard rear spoiler available only in the more expensive Sport model of the Honda Fit. Power and Performance: The Honda Fit uses the same engine in each of its models. Both of the Sonic’s engines produce greater horsepower and torque than the Honda Fit’s engine. The ECOTEC engines in the Sonic are also have a much superior design with dual overhead cams instead of the one in the Fit engine and variable valve timing on both the intake and exhaust—while the Fit only offers this feature on the intake. The Chevy Sonic offers both 6 speed manual and automatic transmission options, both with the hill holder function, while the Fit has only 5-speed manual and automatic, with no hill hold technology offered. Moreover, the Fit’s steering system doesn’t offer variable-assist as the Sonic does. The Sonic also delivers a greater maximum fuel range and almost two more gallons in fuel capacity than the Fit. 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback

Interior: The Sonic is wider than the Fit, allowing the Sonic greater hip and shoulder room than the Fit. The Sonic also has more than 3” of additional leg room in the rear-seats than the Fit. Heated seats are also completely unavailable on the Fit, unlike the Sonic which does offer this option.

The Fit offers no equivalent to this. The Sonic offers remote start options—the Fit does not. Satellite radio is standard on the Sonic—it is not offered on the Fit.

Quality, Durability, Reliability: The Sonic is the only subcompact car made in the United States. The Fit is imported from Japan. The Sonic’s warranty is superior to the Fit’s, offering an additional 40,000 miles of powertrain protection; and emergency roadside assistance and courtesy transportation, neither of which is offered with the Honda Fit.

Safety: The Chevrolet Sonic has 10 airbags standard. The Honda Fit only offers 6 airbags. The Sonic’s OnStar automatic crash response system is standard. The Fit offers nothing comparable to the Sonic’s crash response system. The Fit also fails to offer child safety locks comparable to the Sonic’s power rear child safety locks. We at Art Gamblin Motors know that the Chevrolet Sonic is superior to the Honda Fit.
