2013 Chevrolet Spark Safety Before Covington Cars

Here at Art Gamblin Motors, your Covington Car Dealer, we understand that great safety in a vehicle involves much more than just what happens during a collision. And the 2013 Chevrolet Spark embodies this approach to safety very well. Although Spark is a small efficient car, it’s very big on safety. The Spark was designed with a full array of class-leading safety and security features. It delivers comprehensive safety before, during and after a collision. In order to provide excellent safety before an accident ever happens, The Spark features the following:

Standard 4-wheel Antilock Brakes

Provide confident stopping ability.

Brake Assist

Brake Assist senses emergency braking by detecting the speed or force the driver applies to the brake pedal and boosts the power as needed. Under certain conditions, the Brake Assist may activate the ABS more quickly and easily than vehicles without the feature.

Standard Electronic Brake force Distribution

Balances braking forces across all four wheels for outstanding stopping performance and more even brake wear.

Traction Control

All Spark models feature a standard Traction Control system that limits wheel spin when one or both of the drive wheels begin to lose traction. When this happens, the system brakes the spinning wheel(s) and/or reduces power to limit wheel spin.

StabiliTrak Electronic stability Control Sys tem

StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System uses a yaw sensor, lateral accelerometer and steering angle sensor to continually monitor the driver’s steering input and the vehicle’s actual course. If the vehicle does not respond properly, StabiliTrak automatically engages the appropriate braking and traction controls to help the driver get back on the intended course.

Standard Daytime Running Lamps

Automatically illuminate to help make the vehicle more visible to other drivers and pedestrians.

Tire Pressure Monitor

The Tire Pressure Monitor system transmits tire pressure readings from each tire to the Driver Information Center (DIC) so the driver can take action to ensure all tires are properly inflated. A  raphic on the DIC shows real-time PSI values.

OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics

Every month it automatically sends you an email with the results of hundreds of checks of your  engine, transmission, antilock brakes and more.

2013 Chevrolet Spark Ride and Handling Covington Cars

Here at Art Gamblin Motors, your Covington Car Dealer, we are very pleased to be offering the all new 2013 Chevrolet Spark—a vehicle that offers unparalleled value. The value of the Spark is clearly demonstrated by its tight and responsive handling—allowing it to zip in and out of even the most clustered conditions with ease. The high performance and responsiveness of the Spark’s handling is made possible by some ingenious design innovations and the use of high quality materials. The following all contribute to the Sparks great ride and handling:

Chassis

Body Frame Integral Construction: The Spark derives much of its confident road feel and driving comfort from its stiff body construction. Its body and frame are combined into a single, cohesive unit called Body Frame Integral (BFI) design. Nearly 53% of the Spark’s body construction is made from high strength steel which improves chassis stiffness, reduces noise vibration and harshness and improves driving dynamics. Additional chassis features include:

-Main underbody rails, running continuously from front to rear, provide strength.

-A 4-mount engine cradle contributes to exceptional NVH characteristics.

– Specially tuned engine and cradle mounts are tailored to the engine’s inherent

torque axis, effectively damping vibration transfer and noise.

Suspension

Front– The Spark has an independent front suspension and includes:

-MacPherson struts, coil springs and direct-acting 19-mm stabilizer bar.

Rear- The Spark rear suspension is a semi-independent compound-crank (torsion beam) design that combines all of the advantages of a conventional torsion beam axle, such as space requirements, with low weight and the ability to be specifically tuned—includes:

-Torsion beam, coil springs, gas-charged

-shock absorbers.

-The space-saving layout of the rear axle helps

-Spark achieve a low center of gravity, enhancing

-Overall agility.

Steering-All Sparks have power, electric, rack-and-pinion steering—also includes:

-A tight 32.5′ turning diameter promotes excellent handling and maneuverability. For  comparison purposes, the turning diameter for Chevrolet Sonic hatchback is 34.5’ and 35.7’ for Chevrolet Cruze.

-Steering column includes tilt feature.

-No power steering fluid is used and regular

-Maintenance is not required.

Dinghy Towing Spark-Manual transmission-equipped models can be dinghy towed, on all four wheels, behind a motor home. Automatic transmission-equipped Sparks cannot be dinghy towed.

Brakes- All Sparks feature ventilated front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Brake system includes:

-4-wheel ABS

-Standard Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

-Brake Assist

-Hill Start Assist

-Standard StabiliTrak Electronic Stability

-Control System

-Traction Control

-Parking brake

– Mechanical cable-driven

-Standard 4-wheel Front Vented Disc,

-Rear Drum Antilock Brakes

-Provide confident stopping ability.

-Standard Electronic Brakeforce

-Distribution (EBD)

-Balances braking forces across all four wheels for

-outstanding stopping performance and more even

-Brake wear.

Hill Start Assist– When stopped on a steep grade, the Hill Start Assist feature prevents the vehicle from rolling before accelerating–whether facing uphill or down. During the transition when the driver releases the brake pedal, the Hill Holder feature holds the brake pressure (for up

to two seconds) to help ensure the vehicle doesn’t roll.

Brake Assist Brake Assist senses emergency braking by detecting the speed or force the driver applies to the brake pedal and boosts the power as needed. Under certain conditions, the Brake Assist may activate the ABS more quickly and easily than vehicles without the feature.

StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System– StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System uses a yaw sensor, lateral accelerometer and steering angle sensor to continually monitor the driver’s steering input and the vehicle’s actual course. If the vehicle does not follow the driver-intended path, StabiliTrak automatically engages the appropriate braking and traction controls to help the driver get back on the intended course.

Traction Control– All Spark models feature a standard all-speed Traction Control system that limits wheel spin when one or both of the drive wheels begin to lose traction. When this happens, the system brakes the spinning wheel(s) and/or reduces power to limit wheel spin.
