2011 King County Fair

2011 King County Fair

During the mid 90’s there was one thing that Tyson Gamblin always looked forward too!  No it was not football or warm weather it was the King County Fair.  Tyson devoted his early summer doing yard work for neighbors to earn enough money to spend on the carnival rides and games at the King County Fair.  The King County Fair for him was his summer highlight.  The King County Fair has not been at the level it was during the 1990’s  and it took a few years hiatus a few years ago.

Well the Fair is Back! Art Gamblin Motors was excited to be part of the new 2011 King County Fair at the Enumclaw Expo Center. This years fair included a great concert lineup and all the games and rides that Tyson Gamblin loved to be part of when he was a kid.  Art Gamblin Motors brought down a great selection of vehicles for guest to look at which included the new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible.

Check out Shar Phillips in this video as it was his first time attending the famous King County Fair.

Transformers Barbeque

Say the word “Camaro” and most kids think of Bumblee: the famous Transformer.  With the release of Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon, Art Gamblin Motorswanted to have a special showing for its employees and customers.  Art Gamblin Motors coordinated with Calvary Presbyterian Church to reserve the parking lot next to the Enumclaw Chalet Movie Theatre.  The movie was shown at 7:00 PM, but  employees and ther families arrived around 5:30 for the free dinner provided by Rainier Catering.

Gamblin Motors had the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible on hand and a couple of other good looking Chevroletsfor the get together. The weather was perfect and the building provided a nice shaded area for the barbeque.  We were excited with our turn out – we anticipated about 75 people and about 100 showed up for the festivities.

Mother Nature Controls Car Colors

Beyond the recent devastating effects of Mother Nature, she now is controlling car colors.  Chevrolet and other automotive manufacturers have announced shortages on some colors as a result of the Japanese tsunami.  The shiny pigment called Xirallic used in some auto paint is only produced in a single plant in Japan owned by Merck.  Auto manufacturers use Xirallic to give metallic paints a sparkling appearance.  If you are looking for a Chevy in metallic gray, taupe, red and bright blue, you better hurry in while there is a selection.  Most production of these colors have stopped.

Our hearts go out to those suffering from these natural disasters, whether earthquakes, tsunamis or tornados.  For some, not having a shiny metallic red car might be a daily reminder of the power of Mother Nature and the devastation she can cause.

Our First Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Says Goodbye to Enumclaw and Hello to Wilbur, WA

Our first Chevrolet Camaro Convertible here at Gamblin Motors was on display on our showroom floor for the past couple weeks. This sleak Camaro created alot of buzz and excitement around the town and dealership, everyone wanting to catch a glimpse of the newly released convertible.

The new owners of the new 2011 Chevy Camaro came all the way from rural Wilbur, WA– population 866. Throughout the past couple years, the residents of Wilbur have made us their home dealership, not letting the nearly 5 hour drive stop them from coming to see us time and time again. Check out the below video by Scott Ledford  to see the Jensen’s take delivery of their new Camaro, along with a few other friends from Wilbur who made purchases as well.

Rumble in the Rockies: Silverado HD vs. Super Duty

With the proven Duramax Diesel and the brawny Allison Transmission, the new Silverado HD beats the competition in the field. Diesel Power Magazine and Pickuptrucks.com recently tested the Ford Super Duty with their new diesel and transmission against Silverado HD with the proven Duramax and Allison. Named the “Rumble in the Rockies” the one sided results crowned Chevy Silverado HD, King of the Mountain.

The magazine took both 1-ton Chevrolet and Ford pickups, hooked them to trailers with 18,900-pound loads and accelerated up I-70 in Colorado. Even though the horsepower and torque ratings are similar, in a real word setting the results weren’t even close.

Acceleration: “the Silverado made it through the quarter-mile more than 2 seconds quicker, achieved a top speed that was nearly 10 mph faster, and finished the entire climb more than 2 minutes ahead of the Ford. The Duramax performed significantly better at 11,000 feet of elevation as well pulling the 18,900 lb load at 47 mph, while the Ford slowed to 35 mph. Acceleration Test Winner: Chevrolet Silverado.”

The article continues, “The exhaust brake test brought out similar success for the Duramax and Allison combination. As we began our downhill run, the Ford descended the western slope well but required an average of 14 application’s of the truck’s brake pedal to hold the vehicle speed between 50-60 mph. Going downhill in the Chevy, the driver had far less work to do…. the Chevy only required 1 brake application for the entire 8-mile downhill run. While the difference in hillclimbing between the Chevy and Ford is impressive, the exhaust braking advantage of Silverado is staggering. Exhaust Brake Test Winner: Chevy Silverado HD.”

Let It Snow Let It Snow

Brushing off snow on your car is a pain, but  think about doing it for over 250 vehicles!  Not fun.

Dale Dunks with Art Gamblin Motors had a unique and very productive way to take the snow off the cars on our lot.  We tried to get an official measurement of the snow fall  but Dale was to busy getting the snow off the cars for the last day of the Thanksgiving Sale before we could get an official measurement.  Reports have been circulating of 8 inches of snow fall in Enumclaw and other reports saying all the way to 13 inches.  Definitely a record snow fall for Enumclaw before Thanksgiving.  The kids loved the snow as school was cancelled and we are anticipating that the whole week is going to be canceled as well.  Now if you ever needed remote vehicle start, days like this make it worth having.

Coat Drive

Art Gamblin Motors Coat Drive

We need your help!  We are kicking off our 2nd annual clothing drive for the Enumclaw and Buckley Clothing banks.  The local clothing banks are in desperate need of Hats, Gloves and Coats.  We are accepting new and slightly used items.  Last year this clothing drive helped out the local clothing bank tremendously and we your help to make this year better than last years efforts.

We will have a vehicle in the showroom at our Main Store and at our Truck Center where you can drop off your donations.  With Western Washington expecting its coldest and wettest winter in a few years there are a lot of families that could use a coat.

So please stop in and give what you can.
