2012 Toyota Corolla vs 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Puget Sound Car Dealer

2012 chevrolet cruze vs toyota corolla Safety: The front shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Cruze are height-adjustable, and the rear seat shoulder belts have child comfort guides that allow the belt to properly fit children. The Corolla only has front height-adjustable seat belts and no child comfort guides. The Corolla’s child locks have to be individually engaged manually at each door. The Cruze, however, has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver’s seat and to know when they are locked. The Cruze also has standard OnStar, which uses a GPS receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you’re locked out, help find your vehicle if it’s stolen or even automatically send emergency personnel to your location if needed.  Those are just a sampling of what OnStar offers. The Toyota Corolla doesn’t have anything comparable to OnStar. Parking assistance sensors in the Cruze, excluding the LS model, warn the driver of obstructions, which greatly reduce the chance of accidents. The Corolla offers nothing comparable to this. The Toyota Corolla also lags significantly behind safety when stacked up against the Cruze’s 10 standard airbags—the Corolla only has 6 airbags total. 2012 Chevrolet Cruze  Quality, Reliability and Durability: Chevrolet’s powertrain warranty covers the Cruze 40,000 miles longer than Toyota covers the Corolla. The Cruze’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Corolla’s. There are nearly 4 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Toyota dealers, making it a lot easier to get service under the Cruze’s warranty than Toyota’s. The Chevrolet Cruze’s engines use a cast iron block for durability. The Corolla uses an aluminum block for its engine, which is more likely to warp and crack than cast iron. Power and Performance: Both ofThe Cruze’s available ECOTEC engines produce 6 more horsepower than the single engine the Corolla offers. The Cruze’s 1.4L turbo engine also accelerates faster at lower RPM that the Corolla’s engine, going 0-60 faster than the Corolla. The manual Cruze Eco gets 7 more highway mpg than the Corolla. The Cruze also holds 2.4 more gallons of fuel than the Corolla granting the Cruze greater fuel range. A six-speed manual is standard on the Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze’s transmission also uses superior gear ratios for enhanced performance and a lower final drive ratio for quieter highway operation, much less engine wear and better fuel economy. The Toyota Corolla only offers an inferior five-speed for its manual transmission. The Cruze’s optional automatic transmission is also a 6-speed as opposed to the Corolla’s inferior 5-speed automatic. A 6-speed automatic is available on the Chevrolet Cruze as well, while the Corolla offers only a 4-speed automatic! Drive and Handling: The Cruze offers better traction than the Corolla with larger 16” standard wheels whereas the Corolla has only 15” wheels standard. The Cruze LTZ offers 18” wheels while the Corolla LE offers only 16” wheels as optional. Standard handling in the Cruze is also greater than in the Corolla because the Cruze LS/LT wheels have a lower profile than the Corolla’ standard series tires. Superior handling in the Cruze over the Corolla is solidified by the Cruze’s longer wheelbase.  Interior: The Cruze is a highly efficient compact vehicle that exceeds all expectations. However, the Cruze offers so much cargo room and interior space that the EPA classifies it as a midsize vehicle. The Corolla, due to its limited interior space and cargo capacity is classified solely as a compact. The Cruze has 2.5 cubic feet more passenger room the Corolla; half an inch more front headroom, almost an inch more front legroom, .7 inches more rear headroom and 8.5 inches more rear hip room than the Corolla. The Cruze also has over 3 cubic feet more trunk space than the Corolla. We at Art Gamblin Motors, your Kent Car Dealer, are confident that the Chevrolet Cruze, which won two awards in Kiplinger’s 2011 car issue, is unquestionably superior to the Toyota Corolla.
