2012 Chevrolet Camaro Performance Puget Sound Cars

Here at Art Gamblin Motors we have a great appreciation for the Chevrolet Camaro—a sports car unlike any other in its segment. The Camaro is a dream come true for drivers who want a race-ready powerful sports car that is as comfortable ripping down a drag strip as it is comfortably driving down the highway. The Camaro offers a V6 and a V8 engine. Both provide the perfect balance between raw power and performance while still being easy and relaxed enough to drive every day. The standard engine for the Camaro LS and LT is the all-new LFX 3.6L direct injection V6.

This engine smoothly and easily delivers 323 horsepower and a highly impressive 30 mpg with a manual transmission and an equally impressive 29 highway mpg with an automatic. The LFX engine is able to achieve such high levels of performance, efficiency and durability through many excellent features. First of all, the engine is all-aluminum which makes it very light, strong and efficient. The overall design of the engine maximizes on its light weight and increases airflow—allowing for greater performance and efficiency. Moreover, the unique design of this engine and the high-quality components used ensure smooth and quite operations along with remarkable durability. Variable Valve Timing is also used to ensure more consistent and efficient operations.

The standard engine on the Camaro SS is a 6.2L V8 engine that comes in two versions. The first is the automatic—equipped with the Active Fuel Management System, which turns off the engine when the vehicles stops and instantly starts it again as soon as the brake pedal is release. This feature saves on fuel and increases engine efficiency. The second V8 engine option is the manual. Both achieve a very impressive 24 highway mpg and go 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. However, the automatic V8 produces 400 horsepower, while the manual V8 produces an even more impressive 426 horsepower.

All transmissions for the Camaro are 6-speed. The AISIN manual transmission is the standard for the V6 engine while a Hydra-Matic 6L80 automatic transmission is optional. The Tremec TR6060 manual transmission is standard on the V8 and has an optional Hurst short-throw shifter. The Hydra-Matic 6L80 automatic transmission is available for the Camaro V8. All of the Camaro’s available automatic transmissions include tap-up tap-down shifting that allows for manual control of the gears with the push of a button, while still offers automatic control.

The Chevrolet Camaro represents a pinnacle in sports cars—with its striking and powerful exterior, luxurious and comfortable interior all wrapped up in a convenient and accessible package.
